Session Title: Ethics in HR: Building Trust, Accountability and Culture

Session Description: In an era of increasing transparency and stakeholder expectations, HR professionals are uniquely positioned to shape ethical workplaces. This session explores how ethics intersects with every stage of the employee experience—from hiring to offboarding—and how HR leaders can foster cultures of integrity, fairness, and trust. Through real-world scenarios and practical frameworks, participants will gain tools to navigate ethical dilemmas and lead with purpose.

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify common ethical challenges HR professionals face and explore strategies for resolving them with integrity.
  • Understand HR’s role in shaping ethical culture through leadership, policy, and communication.
  • Apply ethical decision-making frameworks to real-world HR scenarios across the employee lifecycle.


Speaker: Andrea Gurcsik, SHRM-SCP, SPHR of Total Talent for ITC Holdings Corp

Speaker Bio: Andrea Gurcsik is the Director of Total Talent for ITC Holdings Corp – the largest independent electricity transmission company in the US. In this role she has oversight for the following teams: HR Business Partners; Talent Acquisition; Culture and Engagement; and Employee and Leader Development.

Prior to joining ITC, Andrea served as a Director at First Solar, Inc, where she was responsible for global HR functions including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Internal Communications, Employment Branding and HR Integration for over 14 years. 

Andrea serves on Board of Directors for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio, WorkSpring (formerly The Employers’ Association), The University of Toledo COBI Alumni board and the LPGA’s Greater Toledo Open.

She currently serves as a District Director for the Ohio SHRM Board, where she was previously State Director.  She served as the past President of the Toledo SHRM Chapter and was a two-time Chair of the Ohio Human Resource Conference.

Andrea earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Toledo.  She has been recognized by The University of Toledo as their Department of Management “Alumna of Year” in 2019 and College of Business Administration’s “Young Alumni of the Year” in 2005.  In 2011 she was awarded the HR Excellence Award from the Toledo SHRM Chapter and 2006 she was a recipient of the Toledo area’s “20 Under 40” Leadership Award.

She is married to Gary and has three children, who all love to overcommit to activities as much as she does.  For fun she enjoys running, playing euchre and reading.
